Milnerton beach
Offering extraordinary views of the stately Table mountain, Signal Hill, Robben Island and Cape Town and with its tempting waters, the popular Milnerton beach is found on the Atlantic ocean seaboard, to the north of Cape Town city centre.
It is more famous for its lighthouse. Milnerton has a thrilling marine history. It is even said that the coastline between Green Point and Milnerton has seen more shipwrecks (approx 150!) than any other coastline in South Africa.
This beach is ideal for swimming, long walks, sunbathing as well as surfing. Other activities in Milnerton's to-do list include jet-skiing, surfing, body boarding, rafting down the lagoon, fishing, prawn fishing and canoe paddling.
Milnerton's beach also prides in its cleanliness. There are daily patrols on the beach to ensure that it is well maintained and that there are waste bins within close proximity so that the surroundings are relatively clean. The beach is also manned by lifesavers to ensure the safety of the visitors.
The nearby Sunset Beach is a fully residential area about 250 houses and is located along the Table Bay shoreline between the Milnerton and Table View on the Western coast of the greater Cape Town Metropolitan area. Sunset Beach is acknowledged as one of the finest kite and windsurfing locations in the world.
